Beautiful Beaches

Anglesey's coastline features a diverse range of geological formations and habitats. This selection includes the expansive Traeth Llanddwyn, part of a national nature reserve with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains, and Benllech, known for its extensive low-tide sands. Smaller coves like Porth Trecastell sit near Neolithic burial chambers, while Traeth yr Ora offers a remote setting overlooking Dulas Island. The list covers both Blue Flag-awarded destinations and rugged bays along the Anglesey Coastal Path.

Lligwy Beach

Wide sandy bay with shallow waters. Nearby archaeological sites include the Din Lligwy hut circle and a Neolithic burial chamber.

Traeth Llanddwyn

Sandy beach within a national nature reserve. It leads to Ynys Llanddwyn, a tidal island featuring the ruins of St Dwynwen's Church and a historic lighthouse.

Benllech Sands

Expansive golden sands that stretch for miles at low tide. This Blue Flag beach is known for its rock pools and clear, shallow waters.

Porth Trecastell

Sandy cove enclosed by low cliffs. The headland to the south houses the Barclodiad y Gawres Neolithic burial chamber, known for its decorated stones.

Traeth Llydan

Large sandy beach near Rhosneigr bordered by sand dunes and rock pools. It is frequently exposed to winds and waves suitable for surfing.

Church bay

Rural beach of sand and pebbles backed by steep cliffs. It is home to Swtan, a restored 17th-century thatched cottage museum located just above the bay.

Traeth yr Ora

Secluded sand and shingle beach accessible only by foot or boat. It overlooks Dulas Island and its 19th-century shipwreck refuge tower.

Porth Nobla

Small, quiet bay with a mix of sand and rocky outcrops. It is situated directly on the Anglesey Coastal Path near Porth Trecastell.

Traeth Penrhos

Sandy beach located within the Penrhos Coastal Park. It features woodland trails and views across the Beddmanarch Bay Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Porth Cadwaladr

Narrow, rocky inlet with a small sandy patch visible at low tide. It is located in a remote area of the southwestern coast, accessible via the coastal path.
