Antigua's Historic Monuments

Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage site, preserves a wealth of 17th and 18th-century Spanish colonial architecture. This collection highlights the city's evolution from a regional capital to a preserved ruin following the 1773 Santa Marta earthquakes. Arco de Santa Catalina

Built in the 17th century, this iconic yellow arch allowed cloistered nuns to pass between the Santa Catalina convent and a school across the street without being seen. The clock on top was added in the 19th century.

Palacio del Ayuntamiento

Completed in 1743, this city hall features a double-arched stone facade. It houses municipal offices and the Museo del Libro Antiguo, which displays early Central American printing works.
