Castiglione della Pescaia Essentials

Castiglione della Pescaia combines medieval architecture with Tyrrhenian coastal history. The town's upper district is dominated by a 15th-century fortress and defensive walls, while the nearby Etruscan settlement of Vetulonia offers archaeological insights into pre-Roman Italy. The coastline is defined by a series of 12th to 16th-century watchtowers and forts, such as Forte delle Rocchette and Castello di Punta Ala, which were built to defend this strategic maritime stretch against pirate raids.
