Museums & Heritage

This collection spans the cultural evolution of Central Greece, centered on the UNESCO World Heritage site of Delphi, the ancient seat of the Pythian oracle. It includes the Delphi Archaeological Museum, housing the Charioteer and the Sphinx of Naxos. The list also features the 10th-century Hosios Loukas Monastery, a masterpiece of Middle Byzantine architecture and mosaics. Regional history is further explored through the extensive prehistoric and Mycenaean collections in Thebes and the local archaeological finds housed in Karystos.

Archaeological Museum of Thebes

One of Greece's most significant museums, featuring exhibits from the Paleolithic to the Post-Byzantine periods. Highlights include unique Mycenaean clay coffins, ivory carvings, and rare cylinder seals from the Bronze Age.

Housed in the Giokaleion Foundation building, this museum displays finds from the Karystia region, including sculptures from the Classical and Roman periods and artifacts from the megalithic Dragon Houses of Mount Ochi.
