Theatres and Arts

Košice’s cultural scene centers on the Neo-Baroque State Theatre and the East Slovak Gallery, the nation's first regional art museum. The city hosts specialized venues like the Romathan theatre, the only professional Roma ensemble in Slovakia, and the Thália theatre, which serves the Hungarian minority. Musical performances are held in the Dom umenia, a 1920s Neologue synagogue that now serves as the home for the State Philharmonic Orchestra.

Established in 1992, this is the only professional Roma minority theatre in Slovakia, featuring performances that combine drama, music, and traditional dance.
