Linköping Essentials

Linköping combines medieval architecture with industrial engineering and aviation history. The 12th-century cathedral and neighboring castle form the city's historic core, while the Gamla Linköping open-air museum preserves nearly one hundred 19th-century buildings. To the north, the Berg’s Locks demonstrate the engineering of the Göta Canal. The city is also home to the Swedish Air Force Museum at Malmen Airbase and the functionalist Östergötland County Museum, which houses a significant collection of European art.
