Cultural and Historical Gems

Michoacán’s heritage spans from the pre-Hispanic Purépecha Empire to the Mexican War of Independence. This collection features the circular yácatas pyramids of Tzintzuntzan and Ihuatzio alongside Morelia’s colonial architecture, including the 17th-century Clavijero Cultural Center and the birthplace of revolutionary leader José María Morelos. Notable sites include the volcanic-buried ruins of San Juan Parangaricutiro and the monumental 40-meter statue on Janitzio Island, which contains murals depicting Mexico's history.
