Mojácar is a safe village. The sun is strong, so use sun protection. The village is steep, so wear comfortable shoes. Check the beach flags before swimming.

Mojácar was an Iberian and Roman settlement, and under Moorish rule it was a fortified town. It was one of the last to surrender to the Catholic Monarchs in 1488.

In the 20th century it was depopulated, but in the 1960s the municipality promoted the village to artists and visitors, which started its recovery as a tourist destination.
