Historic Heritage Sites

Pointe-à-Pitre’s urban landscape showcases a blend of 19th-century colonial architecture and industrial history. This collection features the iron-framed Marché Central, the neoclassical St. Pierre and Paul Church, and the remnants of the Darboussier sugar factory, once the largest in the Lesser Antilles. Historical landmarks include the birthplace of Nobel laureate Saint-John Perse and museums dedicated to the abolition of slavery.
