Chungcheongnam-do Essentials

Chungcheongnam-do preserves the legacy of the Baekje Kingdom through UNESCO-listed historic sites in Buyeo and Gongju. This collection highlights 7th-century stone pagodas, royal burial mounds, and the mountain fortress of Busosanseong. The region also features significant spiritual landmarks like Magoksa Temple and natural terrain ranging from the granite peaks of Daedunsan Provincial Park to the silver grass fields of Oseosan Mountain.

Buyeo Jeongnimsaji

Site of a 7th-century Buddhist temple featuring a five-story stone pagoda, a rare surviving example of Baekje architecture. The grounds include a museum and a seated stone Buddha from the Goryeo Dynasty.

Royal Tombs in Neungsan-ri, Buyeo (Baekje Historic Areas)

A UNESCO World Heritage site featuring seven royal tumuli from the Sabi period of the Baekje Kingdom. These tombs are located on the southern slope of Mt. Busosanseong and yielded significant artifacts like the Baekje Incense Burner.

Busosanseong Fortress

This earthen fortress served as the final defense for the Baekje capital. The site includes the Nakhwaam Rock cliff overlooking the Baengmagang River and several pavilions dating back to the Sabi period.

Tomb of King Muryeong
