Izu Essentials

Izu Peninsula is a significant geothermal and volcanic region in Shizuoka Prefecture. This selection centers on the historic Shuzenji Onsen district, featuring the 9th-century Shuzenji Temple and the Meiji-era architecture of Arai Ryokan. Natural highlights include the 25-meter Joren Falls, formed by basaltic lava, and the volcanic peaks of Mount Amagi. Coastal viewpoints like Koibito Misaki provide panoramas of Mount Fuji across Suruga Bay, while the Izu Velodrome represents the area's modern sporting infrastructure.
