Castles and Forts of Namur

This collection highlights Namur’s military and noble architecture: the hilltop Citadel overseeing the Sambre–Meuse confluence, a ring of nine late-19th-century Brialmont forts built for Belgium’s national defence, and several local châteaux and civic monuments. Entries include fortified artillery works, medieval and post-medieval manor houses, ecclesiastical buildings with Baroque and Romanesque elements, and civic structures adapted over centuries for administrative or cultural use.

Historic Churches and Shrines

This collection highlights Namur's religious sites: the Late Baroque St. Aubin's Cathedral, Romanesque and Baroque parish churches across city neighborhoods and nearby villages, a 13th‑century Cistercian abbey, several monastic houses, and numerous small Catholic shrines and grottoes.
