Pisac Essentials

Pisac combines high-altitude Inca engineering with a bustling artisanal market. Inca Citadel

Písac or Pisac is a Peruvian town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is situated on the Vilcanota River.

Intihuatana

A ritual stone carved from solid rock, used by Inca astronomers to track the sun’s movement and determine the seasons. It serves as the religious center of the Pisac archaeological complex.

Pisaq

This extensive archaeological complex features semicircular agricultural terraces, military outposts, and religious structures. It demonstrates advanced Inca masonry and urban planning in the Sacred Valley.

Museo de Pisac

This museum displays traditional ceramics, textiles, and archaeological finds from the local area. Exhibits detail the history of the town and the surrounding Inca ruins.

Botanic Garden Felipe Marin Moreno

Established by a local botanist, this garden houses a collection of native Andean plants, including various species of cacti and begonias, located within a colonial-era courtyard.

Patapata

A series of steep, well-preserved agricultural terraces located on the slopes below the main Pisac citadel. These stone-walled structures demonstrate sophisticated Inca irrigation and farming techniques.

Choco Museo

A museum and shop dedicated to the history of Peruvian cacao. It offers workshops on the chocolate-making process, from bean to bar, alongside various cocoa-based products.
