Streymoy Peaks & Viewpoints

Streymoy, the largest of the Faroe Islands, features a dramatic landscape of basalt peaks and coastal escarpments. This collection spans from the 749-meter high plateau of Sornfelli to the sheer 564-meter vertical cliffs of Mýlingur in the north. It includes historic vantage points like the 16th-century Skansin fortress in Tórshavn and roadside overlooks of Fossá, the archipelago’s tallest two-tiered waterfall. These sites provide clear perspectives of the surrounding islands, including Eysturoy, Vágar, and Nólsoy.

Sornfelli

749-meter mountain plateau featuring a former NATO radar station. It offers 360-degree views of the archipelago and is accessible via a paved mountain road from the Oyggjarvegur.

Loysingarfjall

639-meter peak located in the central highlands of Streymoy, overlooking the village of Kvívík and the sound separating Streymoy from Eysturoy.

Mýlingur

A massive 564-meter cliff at the northernmost point of the island. Known for its distinct jagged shape and a vertical drop into the ocean, it is reached via a hiking trail from Tjørnuvík.
