Scenic Peaks & Waterfalls

This collection spans the dramatic landscape of Uva Province and Horton Plains, featuring the 880-meter sheer drop of World's End and the 220-meter Diyaluma Falls, Sri Lanka’s second-highest waterfall. It highlights the geological variety of the Hill Country, from the natural infinity pools at Upper Diyaluma to the colonial-era engineering of the Nine Arches Bridge. Hikers can access panoramic views of the Ella Gap via Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak, while Rawana Ella Falls offers a roadside look at local folklore and cascading water.

Rawana Ella Falls

A 25-meter-high waterfall cascading over an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop. Linked to the Ramayana legend, it is situated 6 kilometers from Ella along the A16 highway.

Little Adam's Peak

A 1,141-meter peak featuring a moderate hiking trail through tea plantations. The summit offers a 360-degree view of the Ella Gap and the southern plains of Sri Lanka.

World's End (Plate 1)

A precipice within Horton Plains National Park featuring a vertical drop of approximately 880 meters. Early morning visits are recommended to avoid the dense mist that typically obscures the view after 9:00 AM.

Diyaluma Falls

Measuring 220 meters, this is the second-highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is located in the Badulla District along the Colombo-Badulla highway, cascading down a sheer cliff face.

Ella Rock

A prominent cliff located at an elevation of 1,041 meters. The trek involves walking along railway tracks and through eucalyptus forests, providing views of the Ella Gap and Little Adam's Peak.

Upper Diyaluma Falls

A series of natural rock pools and smaller cascades located at the top of the main Diyaluma Falls. Accessible via a 30-minute hike from the village of Makaldenya.

Nine Arches Bridge Viewpoint

Overlooks a 91-meter-long railway viaduct constructed in 1921. The bridge is notable for being built entirely from stone, brick, and cement without the use of structural steel.
