Designed by the Belgian architect Joseph Poelaert, this neoclassical building is said to be the largest building constructed in the 19th century (with 26,000 square metres). It was built using the most advanced technologies of that time.
It now serves as the Law Courts of Brussels with 27 large courtrooms and 245 smaller courtrooms in total. Notice the detailed works on columns and other parts of the interior, they are beautifully decorated. The top provides interesting views over the city of Brussels.
Since the building is that huge, it became rusty and there are calls for its rehabilitation. It is currently being refurbished.
