The beating heart of Copenhagen and a favourite meeting place for both the locals and the tourists, with shops, restaurants and statues dotting it all around.
This very large square is over 120 years old and can hold over 50,000 people. It is frequently used for hosting events like concerts, for collective watching of sports or as the place of choice for various celebrations.
Towering directly over the square is the building that made it famous, the Copenhagen City Hall. That is not all as far as sights around the square are concerned, however. The popular pedestrian street Strøget connects to the square from one side and from the other the Tivoli park lies within walking distance.
