Scenic Peaks of Mokpo

Mokpo’s topography is defined by its rugged granite peaks and coastal ridges, offering vantage points over the Dadohaehaesang National Park and the busy Mokpo Port. This collection includes the iconic Yudalsan, famous for its historic pavilions and rock formations, alongside the scenic trails of Gohado Island. These peaks provide clear views of the Mokpo Bridge, the Yeongsan River estuary, and the numerous islands that characterize South Korea’s southwestern coastline.

Yudal Mountain

A 228-meter granite peak featuring five pavilions and jagged rock formations. It offers panoramic views of the city, the harbor, and the surrounding islands of the Dadohae Archipelago.

Limam

Located in the eastern Gatbawi district, this 121-meter hill features established hiking trails overlooking the Yeongsan River and the Mokpo Culture and Arts Center.

Nojeogbong

A historic rock peak where General Yi Sun-shin used straw mats to camouflage the hill as a massive rice stack to deceive Japanese invaders during the Imjin War.

Yangeulsan

A centrally located hill featuring a forest park, an artificial lake, and accessible walking paths that provide views of the Mokpo city center.

Geumseongsan

A peak on Gohado Island offering views of the Mokpo Bridge and the industrial New Port area, accessible via the island's coastal ridge trails.

Sajaesan

Situated on Gohado Island, this ridge is part of a trekking course that connects the Gohado cable car station with the island’s southern cliffs.

Dalang-gaji

The southern tip of Gohado Island, providing a direct view of the shipping channels and the outer islands of the South Sea.

Yubangsan

A northern peak located near the city limits, offering a quiet hiking alternative with views of the West Sea and Mokpo’s residential districts.

Mujaebong

A peak on the northern edge of the city, forming part of the natural boundary between Mokpo and the neighboring Muan-gun region.

Nuldobong

The highest point on Nuldo Island, accessible by boat from Mokpo, offering views of the surrounding archipelago away from the urban center.
