Departamento Las Heras Essentials

Departamento Las Heras encompasses the highest peaks of the Andes, including the 6,961-meter Mount Aconcagua. The region features the natural sulfur-encrusted arch of Puente del Inca and the turquoise reservoir of Potrerillos Dam. Historically significant as the staging ground for General San Martín’s liberation campaign, it preserves 18th-century adobe vaults at Uspallata and ancient Inca road ruins at Tambillitos. The high-altitude border crossing at Christ the Redeemer marks the boundary between Argentina and Chile.

High Andes Expeditions
