Top Museums in Tokyo

Tokyo’s museum landscape spans centuries of heritage, from the UNESCO-listed National Museum of Western Art designed by Le Corbusier to specialized institutions like the Ota Memorial Museum of Art, dedicated to ukiyo-e woodblock prints. This selection includes the Nihon Minka-en open-air museum of traditional houses, the Mingei folk craft collections in Meguro, and the Hosokawa clan’s samurai treasures at Eisei Bunko. Contemporary culture is also represented through dedicated anime exhibits and rotating modern art displays in the Ueno and Shoto districts.
