Paraty's Unmissable Treasures

Paraty preserves its 18th and 19th-century colonial architecture, characterized by whitewashed walls and cobblestone streets. Igreja Santa Rita de Cassia

Constructed in 1722, this is the oldest church in Paraty. It features traditional Jesuit architecture and currently houses the Museum of Sacred Art, displaying religious artifacts from the 17th to 20th centuries.

Forte Defensor Perpétuo

Constructed in 1725 by and for enslaved Africans, this church features a simplified colonial facade and an interior dedicated to Saint Benedict. It is a significant historical site for the town’s Afro-Brazilian community.
