Ancient Tombs of Petra

Petra’s landscape is defined by its sophisticated rock-cut architecture, primarily serving as a necropolis for the Nabatean Kingdom. A 14th-century Islamic mosque and shrine situated atop Jabal Haroun, the highest peak in the area. Built over the remains of a Byzantine church, it is traditionally believed to be the burial place of Aaron, the brother of Moses.
