Ancient Tombs of Petra

Petra’s landscape is defined by its sophisticated rock-cut architecture, primarily serving as a necropolis for the Nabatean Kingdom. This collection features the grandest examples, including the iconic Al-Khazneh and the massive Ad Deir. The Royal Tombs cluster showcases intricate facades like the Urn and Palace Tombs, while the Tomb of Aaron marks a significant pilgrimage site on Jabal Haroun. These structures highlight a blend of Nabatean, Hellenistic, and Roman styles carved directly into the rose-red sandstone cliffs.

Monastery (Ad Deir)

Ed-Deir, also spelled el-Deir and ad-Deir/ad-Dayr, is a monumental building carved out of rock in the ancient Jordanian city of Petra.

Roman Soldier's Tomb

The tomb is named after the statue of a soldier wearing Roman clothes. It dates back to the 2nd century.

Sextius Florentinus Tomb

Built at the time of Sextus Florentinos, the governor of the Arab state. There are remains of columns and statues left.

One of the tombs located opposite the Theatre. It is almost 17 meters high and features two floors and supporting arcs.

Tomb of Aaron

A 14th-century Islamic mosque and shrine situated atop Jabal Haroun, the highest peak in the area. Built over the remains of a Byzantine church, it is traditionally believed to be the burial place of Aaron, the brother of Moses.
