Telč Essentials

Telč is defined by its triangular Zachariáš z Hradce Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site bordered by Renaissance and Baroque houses with interconnected arcades. The town’s architectural center is the 16th-century Telč Chateau, featuring well-preserved sgraffito decoration and ornate interiors. Surrounding the historic core are the Ulický, Štěpnický, and Staroměstský ponds, which once served as part of the town's defensive system. Key landmarks include the 53-meter St. James' Tower and the Romanesque Holy Spirit Tower, the town's oldest standing structure.

Historic Centre of Telč

Telč is a town in the Jihlava District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 5,200 inhabitants.

St. James' Tower

Gothic church tower and observation point standing 53 meters tall. It features views of the historic square with its Renaissance gabled houses and arcaded loggias.

Telč Chateau

Historic castle featuring Renaissance, Gothic, and Neoclassical architectural styles with richly decorated interiors and extensive parklands. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural and architectural significance.

Jména Ježíš

17th-century Baroque Jesuit church located adjacent to the chateau. It features a facade and interior decoration typical of the Counter-Reformation period.

Mariánský sloup

Ornate Baroque plague column from 1718 situated in the center of the main square. It features sculptures of various saints and the Virgin Mary by artist David Lipart.

Telčský dům

Historic burgher house hosting a museum of local history, folklore, and legends. The exhibition includes a scale model of the town and a collection of historical toys.

sv. Ducha

Originally a 13th-century Romanesque chapel, this is the oldest church in Telč. It features a 49-meter Gothic tower and currently serves the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren.

Oslednice

Steel observation tower standing 36 meters tall on Oslednice hill. It offers panoramic views of the UNESCO historic district and the surrounding Vysočina landscape.
