Museums & History

Norway’s history is preserved through diverse sites ranging from the 12th-century Borgund Stave Church to the modern, Sverre Fehn-designed Norwegian Glacier Museum. This collection spans medieval Cistercian ruins on Hovedøya and the specialized Bergen Leprosy Museum, once the world’s center for leprosy research. Further north, the Museum of Reconstruction in Hammerfest documents the post-WWII rebuilding of the region, while Mølstertunet in Voss showcases traditional farmstead architecture through its preserved cluster of historical wooden buildings.
