Birgu, also known as Vittoriosa, preserves centuries of history through its diverse cultural sites. Fort Saint Angelo serves as a medieval bastion at the Grand Harbour's center, while the Inquisitor’s Palace offers a rare look at religious history within its historic chambers. The Malta Maritime Museum occupies a former 1840s Royal Naval Bakery, and the Malta at War Museum documents the city's critical role during World War II.
