Kurashiki Unmissables

Kurashiki centers on the Bikan Historical Quarter, where white-walled rice granaries and willow-lined canals reflect the city’s Edo-period commercial heritage. The area features Japan’s first Western art museum, the Ohara, and archaeological collections housed in traditional warehouses. Beyond the historic center, the city includes the hilltop Kumano Shrine, architectural landmarks like the Amaki Church, and the Washuzan Highland park, which offers panoramic views of the Great Seto Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea.

Ohara Museum of Art Main Building

The Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki was the first collection of Western art to be permanently exhibited in Japan.
