Newcastle and Gateshead’s cultural scene spans from the medieval Newcastle Castle and its 13th-century gatehouse, The Black Gate, to the contemporary BALTIC Centre, housed in a former flour mill. The Great North Museum: Hancock features natural history and ancient civilizations, while the Discovery Museum showcases the city's maritime and industrial heritage, including the Turbinia.
