Belize’s inland waters range from the vast New River Lagoon, which provided a vital transport route for the ancient Maya, to the brackish Shipstern Lagoon in the north. This collection features diverse hydrological sites, including the high-canopy mangrove lagoons of Sarstoon-Temash National Park and the freshwater systems of the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area.
