Makarska Religious Sites
Makarska’s religious heritage is centered around the 18th-century Baroque Co-cathedral of St. Mark and the Franciscan monastery, which dates back to the 15th century. Significant sites include the Vepric Shrine, established in 1908 within a natural cave to resemble Lourdes. The area is also home to several historic chapels such as St. Jerome and St. Martin, many of which are situated on the slopes of the Biokovo mountain range, reflecting the region’s long-standing Roman Catholic traditions.
