Lucca Unmissables

Lucca’s historic center is defined by its massive 16th-century walls, which remain completely intact and serve as a public park. The city’s Roman origins are visible at Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, an oval square built upon the foundations of an ancient stadium, and the church of San Michele in Foro, located on the former Roman forum. Architectural highlights include the tree-topped Guinigi Tower, the intricate facade of San Martino Cathedral, and the Baroque gardens of Palazzo Pfanner. The city also celebrates its musical heritage at the Puccini Museum, the composer’s birthplace.
