Iconic Lighthouses of Shetland

The Shetland Islands feature a network of historic and modern lighthouses designed to guide vessels through the treacherous waters of the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean. This collection includes the Esha Ness Lighthouse, perched on dramatic volcanic cliffs, and the Bressay Lighthouse, which has guarded the entrance to Lerwick Harbour since 1858. The North Lighthouse on Fair Isle is a 14-metre-tall tower engineered by David and Charles Stevenson and established in 1892.

A 26-metre-tall white tower built in 1892. It is the most southerly light in the Shetland archipelago and was designed by the Stevenson family.
