Iconic Lighthouses of Shetland

The Shetland Islands feature a network of historic and modern lighthouses designed to guide vessels through the treacherous waters of the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean. This collection includes the Esha Ness Lighthouse, perched on dramatic volcanic cliffs, and the Bressay Lighthouse, which has guarded the entrance to Lerwick Harbour since 1858. These structures, many engineered by the renowned Stevenson family, mark critical navigation points from the northern tip of Mainland to the remote outposts of Fair Isle.
