Icelandic Volcanoes

Vatnajökull National Park and the surrounding highlands house some of Iceland's most powerful geological features. This selection includes the massive Bárðarbunga and Grímsvötn subglacial volcanoes, as well as the Laki fissure, responsible for one of history's most significant eruptions. The list also features the iconic tuya Herðubreið and the Askja caldera, which contains the deep Öskjuvatn lake. These sites showcase a range of volcanic activity, from expansive lava fields like Holuhraun to dormant peaks and active vents hidden beneath thick ice caps.
