Cauca Essentials

Cauca features a diverse landscape ranging from the Andean highlands to the Pacific coast. This selection includes the Puracé stratovolcano within its namesake National Natural Park and the colonial heritage of Popayán, represented by the 19th-century Puente del Humilladero and the Museo Arquidiocesano de Arte Religioso. Puracé is an andesitic stratovolcano located in the Puracé National Natural Park in the Cauca Department, Colombia.

Puente del Humilladero

Built in 1873 to facilitate the ascent into Popayán's central square, this brick and lime bridge features eleven arches of varying sizes. It remains a primary architectural landmark of the city’s colonial-style historic center.
