Alanya Castle & Ruins

This collection highlights the architectural legacy of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum and the Byzantine Empire on Alanya’s rocky peninsula. The 13th-century Alanya Castle features 6.5 kilometers of defensive walls and 140 bastions, enclosing the inner citadel and the octagonal Red Tower at the harbor. Within the fortifications, find the Ehmedek middle castle and Byzantine-era ruins, including the 11th-century church in the inner citadel and the Arap Evliyası chapel, reflecting the city’s multi-layered maritime history.
