Ptuj's Timeless Treasures

Slovenia's oldest town, Ptuj, centers on its hilltop castle overlooking the Drava River, housing historical collections of musical instruments and tapestries. The medieval core features the 13th-century Church of St. George and Slovenian Square’s well-preserved townhouses. Religious heritage is highlighted by the Minorite Monastery, home to a library of rare books, and the Dominican Monastery, founded in 1230.
