Historic Fortifications

This collection highlights the defensive heritage of the Quiberon peninsula and the Morbihan islands. Spanning from the 17th to the 19th centuries, these structures include Vauban-style citadels, coastal guardhouses, and 19th-century "réduits" designed to protect the French coast from naval incursions. Fort de Penthièvre

An 18th-century fortification controlling the narrow isthmus of the Quiberon peninsula. It served as a major site during the 1795 Quiberon expedition and is currently used as a military training base.
