Geothermal Wonders

Rotorua sits atop the Taupō Volcanic Zone, a region defined by intense subterranean heat and unique geological formations. This collection includes the Lady Knox Geyser, which is induced to erupt daily at 10:15 AM, and the Champagne Pool, famous for its 65-meter diameter and orange mineral crust. The Pohutu Geyser in Te Puia remains the Southern Hemisphere's largest active geyser, while the Devil’s Bath displays a striking neon-green hue caused by sulfur and ferrous salts. For relaxation, Waikite Valley offers pools fed directly by the Te Manaroa Spring.

A large crater within Wai-O-Tapu characterized by its bright neon-green water. The distinct color is a natural result of sulfur deposits and ferrous salts reacting with the mineral-rich geothermal fluid.
