Rotorua sits atop the Taupō Volcanic Zone, a region defined by intense subterranean heat and unique geological formations. The Pohutu Geyser in Te Puia remains the Southern Hemisphere's largest active geyser, while the Devil’s Bath displays a striking neon-green hue caused by sulfur and ferrous salts. A large crater within Wai-O-Tapu characterized by its bright neon-green water. The distinct color is a natural result of sulfur deposits and ferrous salts reacting with the mineral-rich geothermal fluid.
