Island Archaeological Sites

Capri’s archaeological landscape is dominated by the legacy of Emperor Tiberius, most notably at the sprawling Villa Jovis and the coastal Bagni di Tiberio. The island also features a network of defensive structures, including the well-preserved La Guardia Tower and the coastal forts of Orrico and Mesola along the western cliffs. Natural formations like the Grotta di Matermania provided spaces for ancient rituals, while various Roman ruins scattered across the heights offer insight into the island's strategic and residential history during the first century.

Villa of Jupiter

Villa Jovis is a Roman palace on Capri, southern Italy, built by emperor Tiberius and completed in 27 CE.

The Grotta di Matromania is a large, natural cave on the east coast of the island of Capri, Italy. It is located near the Arco Naturale.

The alone-standing tower was a part of a powerful fortification of the island. Remarkably well preserved.

Ruins of an ancient Roman lighthouse used for signaling to the mainland, located in close proximity to the Villa Jovis complex.
