Carpathian Peaks & Passes

This collection features the highest summits and strategic passes of the Ukrainian Carpathians, primarily within the Chornohora, Gorgany, and Svydovets ranges. It includes all six of the country's peaks exceeding 2,000 meters, led by Mount Hoverla. The list also highlights unique geological formations like the rocky spires of Shpytsi, the triple-border peak of Kremenec, and historical transit points such as the Legioniv Pass, which served as a significant site during World War I.

Hoverla

Mount Hoverla, at 2,061 metres, is the highest mountain in Ukraine and part of the Ukrainian Carpathians.

Syvulia Velyka

Standing at 1,836 meters, this is the highest peak in the Gorgany range. It is characterized by extensive fields of gray sandstone boulders, known locally as 'gregoty,' which cover its upper slopes.

Blyznytsya Velyka

At 1,881 meters, this is the highest point of the Svydovets massif. The peak is situated near the Drahobrat glacial cirques and is known for its steep northern slopes and rare alpine flora.

Shpytsi

Located in the Chornohora range at 1,863 meters, this peak is distinguished by its dramatic vertical rock formations. These natural stone spires, reaching up to 40 meters high, were formed by ancient glacial erosion.

Kremenec / Krzemieniec / Kremenec

This 1,221-meter peak in the Bieszczady range marks the geographical triple border where Ukraine, Poland, and Slovakia meet. A granite monument stands at the summit to signify the junction of the three nations.

Volovets Pass

Volovets Pass is a mountain pass in the north-eastern Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine through the Vodorazdel'nyy backbone.

Pereval Legioniv

Situated at 1,110 meters in the Gorgany range, this mountain pass was constructed in 1914 by the Polish Legions during World War I. A memorial cross commemorates the site's military history.
