This large cemetery isn't only a place to remember lost loved ones and mourn, it is also a rather popular tourist destination.
The grave of Hachiko, the faithful dog whose dedication to its master was legendary, attracts the most annual visitors. There are also many impressive graves from the Meiji era.
Apart from the graves, the cemetery is also renowned for the beautiful cherry trees that grow in it. Curiously enough, it is a popular destination for hanami - the cherry blossom viewing.
