You will find layers upon layers of different architectural styles on this fascinating palace. It began its life at the beginning of the 13th century as a Romanesque fort. Later on, some Renaissance features were added and after it was heavily damaged by fire in the 18th century, it was rebuilt in Baroque style. It is also the former residence of the Saxon kings.
Nowadays, the palace houses many museums, all full of interesting and beautiful exhibits (e.g. drawings, coins, armours, photos etc.). Check the official website to learn more about the temporary exhibitions in the museums.
