You would be hard-pressed not to recognize this district on the Parisian skyline. Dominated by the imposing Arch of La Defense monument, this is where most of the skyscrapers in the city are concentrated. With more than 20,000 residents and some 8 million visitors per year, this modern business district is one of the places to be at in Paris.
The monument is not the only beautiful artwork to be admired here, either. There are plenty of modern sculptures dotting the area. The district even gets its name after one of them. This particular red statue called La Défense was made by Louis-Ernest Barrias and you can spot it right at the center of the district, in front of the RER metro, exit Parvis de la Défense.
The district is the easiest to get to either via metro, taking the red or the yellow line, or via tram number 2. You may encounter trouble finding a parking place if you choose to come by car.
