Constructed between 1969 and 1973, this 210-meter tall office skyscraper was designed by architects Eugène Beaudouin, Urbain Cassan, Jean Saubot, and Louis de Hoÿm de Marien. Built in the International Style, the structure features a glass facade and a flat roof. It remains the tallest building located within the city's proper limits and was inaugurated on June 18, 1973.
The building features a public observation deck on the 56th floor and a viewing platform on the rooftop. These facilities have historically provided panoramic views of the surrounding monuments and districts. A virtual reality experience called Paris Time Travel was also hosted at the site, allowing for an exploration of the city through different historical periods.
The observatory and rooftop terrace are currently closed for extensive renovations. A significant restructuring project is underway to modernize the building's facade and improve its energy efficiency.
