This inside-out building with its pipes of different colours (specific colour always matches a specific type of pipe) is a love/hate monument of modern architecture.
It was designed by an international team of architects and its significance in the field of architecture is more than evident. As soon as it was finished in 1977, Pompidou Centre became an iconic sight of Paris.
Inside the building, you can find the National Museum of Modern Art (that houses works of Pablo Picasso or Andy Warhol), Bibliothèque Publique d'Information (Public Information Library), temporary exhibitions, shops, restaurants, a cinema or a “View of Paris” observation deck.
The queues are usually very long but you can buy your tickets online in advance.
On Thursdays, the only open ones are exhibitions on level 6.
Ticket offices close one hour before closing.
