One of the ten royal temples of the highest class was originally built to house the relics of Buddha. Nowadays the grounds are occupied by one of the most important Buddhist universities in Thailand - Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University.

Vipassana Meditation center is also located here. Most of the programs are offered in Thai, but English-speaking monks are also available.

The largest amulet market in Bangkok is held every Sunday right next to the temple. Come here to shop for religious amulets, talismans, and traditional medicine.
