Denali National Park Essentials
Denali National Park and Preserve encompasses six million acres of subarctic wilderness, anchored by the 20,310-foot peak of Denali, the highest in North America. The park features a single 92-mile road providing access to iconic viewpoints like Polychrome Pass and Stony Overlook. Visitors can explore the only working sled dog kennel in the U.S. National Park Service, view the reflection of the Alaska Range in Wonder Lake, and observe native wildlife including grizzly bears, caribou, and moose.
10 lugaresIconic Peaks of Denali
This collection highlights the geological giants of the central Alaska Range within Denali National Park. Dominated by the 20,310-foot Denali, the list includes Mount Foraker and Mount Hunter, the second and third highest peaks in the range. These summits are characterized by massive vertical relief and dramatic granite monoliths, such as The Moose's Tooth and Mount Dickey, which rise thousands of feet above the Ruth Glacier. The region features some of the most challenging technical alpine climbing routes in North America.
15 lugaresDenali Glaciers
Denali National Park and Preserve contains over 400 named glaciers covering one million acres of the Alaska Range. This list highlights the park's most significant ice formations, including the 44-mile-long Kahiltna Glacier, the longest in the range. Discover the Ruth Glacier, which flows through the Great Gorge, where granite walls rise 5,000 feet above ice that is nearly 4,000 feet thick. From the surging Muldrow Glacier on the north side to the technical climbing hubs on the south, these glaciers define the rugged topography of North America's highest peak.
20 lugaresDenali Camping & RV Sites
This collection features established campgrounds and RV sites situated along the Denali Park Road and near the park entrance. Options range from full-hookup facilities at Denali Rainbow Village to remote, tent-only sites at Wonder Lake at Mile 85. Several locations, such as Teklanika and Savage River, provide direct access to the Alaska Range and glacial rivers. Note that private vehicle access is restricted beyond Mile 15, requiring campers at interior sites to utilize the park's dedicated camper bus system.
