Historic Sites of North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire’s heritage spans from Roman military engineering at Cawthorn Camp and Wheeldale Road to the spiritual centers of the Middle Ages. Military history is preserved in the motte-and-bailey structures of Pickering Castle and the fortified remains at Helmsley.
